Terms and Conditions

Orders and payment

  1. Please note Flour Arrangements of Cambridge is a part-time home-based cake decorating business - but do get in touch with enquiries of all sizes, and I'll see what I can do!

  2. After you’ve decided you’d like Flour Arrangements of Cambridge to make your cake, a non-refundable retainer fee is required to reserve your date. This is 50% of the total amount, or £100 for wedding cakes, with the full balance paid at least one full week before in the case of a celebration cake, and at least one full month before in the case of a wedding cake.

  3. I cannot hold your booking slot without the retainer fee.

  4. Late payment, or no payment, subjects your order to cancellation.

  5. Late payment may result in changes, substitutions, or modifications to your order, due to time needed to source ingredients or equipment, or for particular techniques. There may be an extra charge if you wish to revert back to the original design.

  6. I require at least 2 weeks notice to make a cake, though I may sometimes have last minute slots available. There may be an extra charge for short notice requests (typically 20% of the total balance).

  7. All sales are final. If for any reason you aren’t satisfied with your order, notice must be given as soon as possible, and within 24 hours of collection/delivery. Any compensation offered may take the form of a discount on a future cake, but will only be considered if the cake can be returned for inspection, and it is agreed that the cake is not fully baked or significantly diverges from the design/flavours requested.

  8. By paying the retainer fee, you confirm that you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

  9. Hire charges are added for cake stands or knife sets. They include a refundable deposit. Items are due back in the same condition you receive them in within 5 days of your event, unless otherwise requested or arranged. When they are returned, they will be checked for damage and cleanliness, and then I will arrange any refund with you.

Cancellations

  1. If you wish to cancel your order, you will need to give notice at least 2 weeks in advance (as some work may need to be started that far in advance, or particular ingredients or items acquired, depending on design). In cases where enough notice is given, any money paid over the retainer fee will be refunded. If you cancel with less than 2 weeks notice, the amount refunded will depend on how much work has been completed on your cake.

  2. In the rare and unfortunate circumstance where I have to cancel your order, you would be refunded in full (including the retainer fee). I will do my best to help you find another recommended cake decorator, if that is your wish, but cannot guarantee I’ll be able to find one.

Design

  1. Any changes to your order must be made within 5 working days of collection/delivery for a celebration cake/cupcakes, and within 3 weeks of cake setup for wedding cakes. I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to make the changes requested if they are sent after this time. Changes may be subject to extra charges.

  2. Due to copyright, I am unable to exactly replicate a cake, unless I can seek and receive permission from the original cake designer. I will be able to provide a similar cake, or combine elements from several cakes, so please let me know which aspects of a photo you particularly like or dislike if you send an image across!

  3. At times, I may have to make changes to the design for structural or aesthetic reasons. In these cases I will not alter the design significantly, and I will do my best to give you notice.

Collection/Delivery

  1. After confirming a collection/delivery time, please arrive as close to it as possible, and within 15 minutes of this time. If you are unable to make the pre-arranged time, you must keep me informed (preferably by text or email. I don’t always get notifications about Facebook messages or voicemails). If the new proposed time is a significant change to the original, it may have to be rescheduled at Flour Arrangements of Cambridge’s convenience.

  2. If you fail to show up for a collection without notification, I reserve the right to sell your order on to another customer.

  3. Travel costs and set up fees are included in any wedding cake ordered, and added separately if delivering or setting up any other types of cake, at the rate of 50p per mile and £15 per hour for the round trip. If the delivery details change, you are required to let me know within 48 hours of the delivery time, else they may be subject to an extra charge.

  4. If you are collecting your order, once it has left my house, you confirm that you are happy with its standard and condition.

  5. If you collect your order, you are assuming full liability and responsibility for its condition from when it has left my house. I will provide advice and tips about how to transport your cakes.

  6. Flour Arrangements of Cambridge is not liable for any damage sustained due to client handling once the order has been picked up or delivered.

  7. Cakes transported in cars should be placed flat in a footwell or the boot. In hotter weather, please ensure the air conditioning is on in the car when you set off, so the car is cool when you arrive to collect. Cake(s) should be kept level and static to avoid any slipping, moving, or falling.

  8. Cakes need to be stored in a cool dry place, unless otherwise advised. Do not store cakes in the fridge unless otherwise advised. In very hot weather, a fan may be recommended. Flour Arrangements of Cambridge accepts no responsibility for any damage due to the cake(s) not being stored properly.

  9. If for any reason your cake receives damage, please get in touch (preferably by text) on my number given on your invoice. I may be able to repair it, though this may incur an extra charge depending on the level of damage, and whether I have to travel to fix the cake.

  10. Unless agreed otherwise, wedding cakes are not eligible to be collected. They will be delivered to the venue and set up. A photograph will then be taken and sent to a predetermined email address to show the state it was left in.

  11. The best before for cakes is 3 days unless stated otherwise.

Allergens

  1. Though I am happy to bake using (e.g.) nut/dairy/gluten/egg-free recipes, my kitchen is not an allergen-free space. Even if the recipe/flavour chosen does not contain one of these allergens, I cannot guarantee that they have not been present in the manufacturing process of either the ingredients, or the making of the cake, as I do use these ingredients in my kitchen on occasion. I thoroughly clean the preparation area before starting to bake or decorate, and complete free-from orders first, but do not own separate equipment.

  2. You are responsible for letting me know all allergy requests at the time of ordering.

  3. If you do decide to book a cake with me, it is your responsibility to notify people who will be eating the cake, and Flour Arrangements of Cambridge takes no responsibility for allergies or complications due to any person eating the cakes.

  4. Where fresh flowers are to be placed on a cake after delivery/collection, it is the joint responsibility of the customer and florist to decide on appropriate, food-safe flowers and methods of attachment.
